Fikk hyggelig brev fra en venn som er i Taizé om dagen. Han hadde lagt ved litt forskjellig, blant annet en tale av patriark Alexis II av Moskva (holdt i Italia i desember). Her sier patriarken:
“For us Christians, it is clear that the main reason for the absence of outward peace is found within people. If the soul is not in peace, this will inevitably be shown outwardly, above all in the absence of love for others. And yet peace and love are gifts from God. He alone, the original Source of these goods, can grant them to human beings.”
