Sitater av Gandhi

Jeg er med i ei Facebook-gruppe om Gandhi. Her er det en posting med mange sitater fra denne store mannen:

“Action expresses priorities.”

“There is more to life than merely increasing it’s speed.”

“You must be the change you wish to see in the world.”

“The difference between what we do and what we are capable of doing, would suffice to solve most of the world’s problems.”

“There is a sufficiency in the world for man’s need but not for man’s greed.”

“Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes. ”

“Hate the sin, love the sinner. ”

“Honest differences are often a healthy sign of progress. ”

“I believe in equality for everyone, except reporters and photographers. ”

“First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win.”

“An eye for an eye just makes the world blind.”

“I like your Christ but i do not like your Christians. Your Christians are nothing like your Christ.”

“There is no beauty in he finest cloth if i causes hunger and discontent.”

“The weak cannot forgive. Forgiveness is an attribute of the Strong. ”

“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”

“What Kind Of Victory Is It When Someone Is Left Defeated?”

“Love is the strongest force the world possesses, and yet it is the humblest imaginable.”

“I am prepared to die, but there is no cause for which I am prepared to kill.”

“What difference does it make to the dead, the orphans, and the homeless, whether the mad destruction is wrought under the name of totalitarianism or under the holy name of liberty or democracy.”

“Poverty is the worst form of violence.”

“You may never know what results come of your action, but if you do nothing there will be no result. “

Jeg kan jo ikke garantere at Gandhi har sagt alt dette, men det er uansett sitater med verdifullt budskap.

Var innom samme gruppe (Gandhi) på Facebook igjen i dag (17. aug), og da var det kommet enda flere sitater:

“In my opinion, non-co-operation with evil is as much a duty as is co-operation with good.”

“There is no God higher than truth.”

“What do I think of Western civilisation? I think it would be a very good idea.”

“Nonviolence is a weapon of the strong.”

“God has no religion.”

“You can chain me, you can torture me, you can even destroy this body, but you will never imprison my mind.”

“Those who say religion has nothing to do with politics do not know what religion is.“

Later in his life when he was asked whether he was a Hindu, Gandhiji replied: “Yes I am. I am also a Christian, a Muslim, a Buddhist and a Jew.”

“Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will.”

“He who loses his individuality, loses all.”

These are about Gandhi by Albert Einstein:
”Generations to come, it may be, will scarcely believe that such a one, as this, ever in flesh and blood walked upon this earth.”
‘I believe that Gandhi’s views were the most enlightened of all the political men of our time. We should strive to do things in his spirit: not to use violence for fighting for our cause, but by non-participation of anything you believe is evil.”
